Payment Policy

Effective Date: October 20, 2024

This Payment Policy governs all transactions made through Checkrider (“the App”). By using the App to book or manage appointments, you agree to these terms.

1. Booking Fees

A non-refundable fee is charged when a student books an appointment with a Designated Pilot Examiner (“DPE”) through the App. This fee is clearly displayed during the booking process and is subject to change at any time. The fee is charged immediately upon placing a booking.

Please note that the booking fee charged by Checkrider is entirely separate from, and does not credit toward, any fees that the DPE may charge for conducting the FAA practical exam. The DPE sets and collects their own fees independently of the platform.

2. Standby Bookings

For appointments that are already reserved, students may choose to book a "standby" (formerly known as "backup") slot. When booking a standby, the following payment terms apply:

  • Initial Payment:
    You will be charged a percentage of the booking fee at the time of placing the standby booking.
  • Promotion Payment:
    If the primary booking is canceled, and you are promoted to the active appointment, the remaining balance will be automatically charged to your last used payment method.
  • Failed Promotion Payment:
    If the second payment fails for any reason, your standby booking will be canceled immediately, and you will forfeit your spot. You will be notified of this via email, and no further payments will be attempted.

3. Refunds and Cancellations

  • Student Cancellations:
    All student cancellations, regardless of reason, are non-refundable. This applies whether you cancel a standard or standby booking.
  • Examiner Cancellations:
    If an examiner cancels or rejects your booking, no refund will be provided. Instead, you will receive a voucher good for one checkride booking.

4. Vouchers

If you receive a voucher due to an examiner cancellation, the following terms apply:
  • Validity:
    Vouchers are valid indefinitely and can be used for any future booking made through the App.
  • Usage:
    Each voucher is good for one checkride booking, whether it's a full or standby booking. Once used, the voucher is fully consumed.
  • Non-Transferable:
    Vouchers are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or other monetary value.
Note: We reserve the right to alter or revoke the voucher policy at any time. Any changes will apply to all future bookings immediately.

5. Policy Changes

We reserve the right to change this Payment Policy at any time. Any changes will become effective immediately upon posting the updated policy on the App. It is your responsibility to review the Payment Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after any such changes shall constitute your consent to such changes.
