Hello,
We are scheduled to complete your Practical exam together.
I will need your full name as it appears on your pilots certificate, certificate number, type of practical exam, recommending instructors name and certificate number, part 141 or part 61 and type of aircraft being used. I need those items as soon as you can, but absolutely no later than 24 hrs prior to your practical exam.
On the day of your practical exam please make sure to bring:
o View limiting device (if required)
o All your personal documents. (Government photo ID, pilots certificate, medical certificate, flight logbook, endorsements per ACC 61.65H, training records, etc.)
o Aircraft logbooks to include proof of annual / 100hr, pitot static check, transponder, ELT, VOR check, AD compliance sheet or current logbook entry stating that all AD’s have been checked.
o Registration and airworthiness.
o Weight and balance
o POH
o Original knowledge test report (if applicable)
o Make sure you have either 1. A graduation certificate from an online training course which has an endorsement on it. 2. A graduation certificate from a part 141 flight school, or 3. The flight instructor endorsement per AC 61.65H (Appendix) A.82 Review of home study curriculum 61.35(a)(1). If in doubt, option 3 is a safe bet.
o There needs to be ground training logged somewhere!!
o Be able to present all of your required flight hours in an efficient method. Such as having the required cross country flights tabbed and having totals added up at the bottom of your logbook pages if using paper logbooks.
o 800.00 (cash preferred but not required; 300.00 retest fee.). 900 for ATP.
REVIEW THE ACS AND UNDERSTAND WHAT THE STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS ARE
Along with the flight log if required, please complete a weight and balance for takeoff and landing to account for the added passenger. Check weather and NOTAMS and be prepared to discuss your planning process to include why you selected the route and altitude you did and any airspace along the way.
You are welcome to use an ipad or similar if that is what you normally use. You must be able to explain and interpret the navlog that foreflight or similar produces, to include wind corrections and magnetic variation.
Anything that is installed in the airplane is fair game. Ex. If the airplane has an autopilot installed, be prepared to preflight it as appropriate and use it in flight in some capacity.
On the day of your exam, please shoot me a text before you depart your location and update your estimated arrival time. 757-618-3226
When you arrive at KPVG, park in any open spot in front of the terminal building and after you shut down, give me a call. I am located directly next door to the terminal building and will walk over and meet you in the lobby.
If you have any questions, please call, email, or text.
See you soon.
